The wounds are still fresh from England's EURO 2024 final defeat to Spain but there was a time when those tables were turned.
Before last summer's showpiece loss, the Three Lions had the beating of their continental counterparts in the late Sven-Göran Eriksson's first game in charge.
La Roja travelled to Villa Park in 2001 boasting a stellar cast including of Raúl, Pep Guardiola and Gaizka Mendieta but found themselves on the end of a 3-0 reversal.
Nick Barmby, Emile Heskey and Ugo Ehiogu all found the target for the Three Lions to give Eriksson a perfect start to his time in charge of the national side.
It marked the start of a five-game winning streak for England before a friendly defeat against the Netherlands in August of that year curtailed that run.
But the best was still to come as they hammered Germany with a 5-1 rout in their latest World Cup qualifier just a month later.
