Endrick has hogged the limelight lately following an astonishing performance against RB Salzburg in the UEFA Champions League.
The young Brazilian forward starred in Real Madrid’s 5-1 win over the Austrian giants, as he notably bagged a brace. He outshone even the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior in that game, though both these attackers were also able to find the back of the net.
That said said, Endrick has had a far from a perfect season so far, falling behind in the pecking order and only restricted to making the odd appearances here and there.
In a recent interview with The Athletic, Palmeiras president Leila Pereira shared an anecdote – a conversation with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez when the two teams were negotiating the transfer of Endrick.
Leila revealed what Perez told her (h/t AS), “They told me Endrick is better than Pele,” to which the Palmeiras president responded, “Relax, president, no one like Pele has ever been born.”

Leila went on to share her thoughts on Endrick’s current predicament at Santiago Bernabeu, notably backing the youngster to succeed eventually.
“He’s going to be very, very happy at Real Madrid, I have no doubts. He’s very young, a young talent, but it’s difficult for a kid to leave Brazil and adapt immediately.
“He’ll be patient because he’s very determined, he’s very focused. He’ll shine a lot at Real Madrid,” she said.
Finally, Leila Pereira also addressed rumours about Endrick’s potential return to Palmeiras in the wake of his current struggles at Real Madrid.
“No, it was never talked about. There is no chance. For something like this to happen, it has to be good for Palmeiras, for the player and for Real Madrid,” she outrightly said.
“There was never any talk of him returning because it was expected that he would have to adapt to the new club and to Europe,” she concluded.
There is indeed no discussions whatsoever in the Real Madrid camp surrounding the potential exit of Endrick in January and the player will only evaluate his future in the summer.
