Parma suffered a devastating blow with news that Australia international Alessandro Circati ruptured the cruciate ligament in his knee.

A statement from the club announced that the injury was sustained during this morning’s training session in Collecchio.

Initial tests were quick to confirm the worst diagnosis, as there is a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

This type of injury does require surgery over the next few days and is likely to keep him out of action for six months.

Circati among regular starters at Parma

Circati recently celebrated his 20th birthday and came up through the Parma youth academy, helping them to earn promotion last season.

His family moved to Perth, Australia when he was only one year old, but he moved back to Italy in 2014 to join the Parma academy.

He had played in five games this term between Serie A and the Coppa Italia, and while representing Italy at youth level, the central defender switched to Australia in October 2023, earning two senior caps.
