Phil Foden’s performance against Senegal in England’s 3-0 win made sure that the Manchester City man created a new record in World Cup history.

While Foden didn’t score for the Three Lions, Harry Kane, Jordan Henderson and Bukayo Saka did but the City star managed to grab two assists in the game.

As per Opta, the 22-year-old has become the youngest player in World Cup history to contribute to two assists in a knockout game since Ronaldo did the same for Brazil back in the 1998 edition of the tournament. The Brazilian was only 21 back then and Foden is only a year older.

Having said that, Foden has already sparkled in the tournament for Gareth Southgate’s side and he has scored once, while showing his technical abilities as a footballer while playing out wide. The 22-year-old started the game against Senegal, as Marcus Rashford was benched and Raheem Sterling didn’t make it to the squad as he was attending to family issues.
