Pini Zahavi working on former Barcelona superstar’s return despite club’s doubts | OneFootball

The departure of Neymar for Paris Saint Germain in 2017 was one of the most shocking events for FC Barcelona fans in the last decade. The Brazilian superstar was one of the most beloved players for the Blaugrana fans, and thus, his abrupt departure was all the more hard to digest for these fans.

Although he was one of the biggest names in world football at that time, this transfer did not really end up benefitting the Brazilian on a sporting level, as he was unable to reach the heights he was expected to, even after having been united with Lionel Messi. He ultimately left the Parisian club for the Saudi side Al-Hilal.

He left the Saudi side in the last winter transfer window as well, having barely been able to play because of injuries. Currently, he is back in Brazil with Santos and has shown encouraging signs in his first few matches there.

But only a few weeks after his return to Brazil, rumors of his potential return to Barcelona are already doing the rounds.

According to SPORT, he is currently not a preferred option for the Blaugranes, but the agent Pini Zahavi, who has a lot of influence at the Catalan club, has let the Azulgrana entity know that Neymar would be delighted to return.

To facilitate such a move, the superstar will not only arrive as a free agent but will also reduce his salary significantly as he wants to return to the highest level and once again enjoy the spotlight at a club as big as Barcelona.

However, the Blaugranes currently do not know if they will have enough money in their coffers to invest in the summer beyond their highest priority targets on the right wing.

Furthermore, the coaching staff also does not want him in the team, and this will be quite a difficult task even for an agent as experienced as Pini Zahavi, who also represents Hansi Flick and Robert Lewandowski.
