The 37-year-old former Swiss international will return to Eintracht Frankfurt on 1 January 2025.
Pirmin Schwegler, who represented Eintracht Frankfurt as a player between 2009 and 2014, will take over as head of professional football at the Bundesliga club on 1 January 2025.
After making over 400 professional appearances as a player in Germany, Australia and Switzerland, former midfielder Schwegler served as a scout and later as chief scout at FC Bayern Munich before moving to TSG Hoffenheim. The Ettiswil native was employed as head of the first-team department and football cooperations at the Kraichgau club, eventually taking over as head of professional football.
Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “As a former professional and player at Eintracht Frankfurt, Pirmin Schwegler can share a lot of his experience with the young players and support them in their day-to-day development. He will work closely with the team, hold plenty of talks and therefore serve as an important point of contact for the lads. We want to ensure the immediate team environment is as professional as possible. With Timmo Hardung as sporting director and Christoph Preuß as head of the first-team department, we’re very well set up. Pirmin is a very good fit for the team.”
Having made 141 appearances for Eintracht in all competitions, Schwegler knows the club and its surroundings inside out. The 14-time Swiss international also played for Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Hoffenheim and Hannover 96 in the Bundesliga, making 262 appearances in Germany’s top flight overall.
