Mexico and Poland played out the second goalless draw of the third day of the FIFA World Cup and it came after Tunisia’s goalless affair against Denmark.

A largely uneventful game that had a low amount of chances was headlined by Guillermo Ochoa’s penalty save off Robert Lewandowski. The Pole had won the penalty after he had his shirt pulled by Hector Moreno in the box. While the call was controversial, it added some intensity to the game.

It was a game that Mexico generally dominated, especially in the first half. And while Poland did grow into the game later, they couldn’t make much of an impact.

Key performers:

Robert Lewandowski, 4: While the striker did some good work to win the penalty, he had a rather uneventful and unimpressive game. It was also largely down to the lack of possession and invention from Poland, as Lewandowski had to operate further from goal.

Hirving Lozano, 6: The Napoli man impressed for the North American outfit, as he often helped his team stretch flanks and allow Alexis Vegas to come inside and pick final balls. Was always looking to take players on and beat them.

Edson Alvarez, 6: The Ajax man had a pretty good first-half and was key in dictating play from the back for Mexico. Did lose a bit of control in the second half but did well off the ball.
