Wingback Nicola Zalewski says that making his debut for Inter Milan in the derby was one of the best moments of his career.

Speaking in the matchday programme for today’s Serie A clash with Genoa, Zalewski gave his thoughts after three weeks as a Nerazzurri player.

Nicola Zalewski joined Inter Milan right at the end of the January transfer window.

The Polish international arrived on loan from Roma, with a purchase option. He replaced Tajon Buchanan, he left to join Villarreal.

By now, Zalewski has started to settle in to life at the Nerazzurri.

But at the time of the derby against AC Milan earlier this month, that had not really been the case.

Zalewski had been an Inter player for quite literally less than 24 hours when the Nerazzurri took on their city rivals in Serie A.

But the Nerazzurri had rushed through the process of registering Zalewski so that he’d be available for that match.

Despite the whirlwind process of his arrival, Zalewski did feature in that match against the Rossoneri.

And it was quite an impact from the new boy.

Zalewski was the player who assisted Stefan de Vrij for a stoppage time equalizer.

Nicola Zalewski gave his thoughts on being an Inter player. “I feel very good in this shirt,” said the 23-year-old.

“Inter are a top-level team, and a big family with a winning mentality.”

Zalewski reflected that “I grew up with the ball at my feet all the time.”

Then, the Polish international noted that “Among the most important moments in my career are my debuts for the Giallorossi, for my national team, and for Inter.”

Zalewski called these debuts “feelings that will stay with me forever.”

Meanwhile, Zalewski gave his thoughts on which former Inter player he’d like to go up against. “Eto,” he said, naming a treble winner.

“Everyone’s always spoken very highly of him, both as a footballer and as a person.”

“It would’ve been great to go up against him,” Zalewski said of the Cameroonian.
