Police confirm no charges over Rangers’ Souness tifo – common sense prevails

It’s taken them a while, but Police Scotland have finally confirmed what every sane Rangers fan already knew – there was absolutely no criminality whatsoever involved in the Graeme Souness tifo at Ibrox, and no one is getting charged.
This whole ridiculous saga has been another chapter in the tired book of “Let’s find something to be offended by when Rangers do it.” A harmless, powerful tribute to one of the most important figures in our club’s history was twisted by certain folk desperate to manufacture outrage where there was none.
Let’s be clear – the Souness tifo was a brilliant gesture by the fans. It marked the return of a true Rangers icon, a man who changed everything at Ibrox when he walked through those doors in 1986. His influence on the club was seismic, and his role in dragging Scottish football into the modern age is unquestionable. That some rival supporters couldn’t handle that speaks volumes.
But instead of praising a classy tribute, we had the usual suspects up in arms, trying to get the police involved over a banner. Yes, a banner. And the press were more than happy to stir the pot, suggesting there might be something untoward behind it, all the while giving oxygen to those who live to be offended.
Now that the police have investigated and found no wrongdoing, the silence from those same critics is deafening. No apologies, no admissions of getting it badly wrong – just move on and act like it never happened.
But we’re not forgetting. This isn’t just about one tifo – it’s about the wider pattern of Rangers fans being targeted for absolutely everything, while others get a free pass. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – we are judged by a different standard in this country.
Still, the truth always wins out eventually. No crime, no charges, no wrongdoing – just a fanbase honouring one of its legends. As it should be.
Let’s get back to what really matters – supporting our team and leaving the noise behind.
