FC Barcelona will be looking to bounce back after their recent loss to Osasuna in La Liga. Fortunately for the Catalan giants, they do not have the liberty to even worry about matches that have already passed. Instead, Barcelona must now turn their attention towards yet another crucial competition.
Back in the UEFA Champions League now, Barça have a chance to grab a much-needed win over Swiss side Young Boys. Since they lost their first match against Monaco, Barcelona will now be extra motivated to get all three points at home against their visiting opponents.
Here is how Hansi Flick could line up his Barcelona team for the upcoming game.
Expected Lineup:
Goalkeeper: Inaki Pena
Conceding four goals to Osasuna would not look good on any goalkeeper’s resume, but Inaki Pena remains Barça’s first choice goalkeeper for now and Hansi Flick continues to encourage his players to earn their spot, something that Pena will also need to do.
Right-back: Jules Kounde
The Frenchman had a decent outing last time out but he seems to struggle offensively without Yamal on his flank. Fortunately, it seems like Flick will deploy both of them together for this upcoming game.
Centre-back: Pau Cubarsi
Not the most memorable of games for Pau Cubarsi in his previous outing alongside Sergi Dominguez, but he should be reunited with Inigo Martinez for this upcoming game. The presence of the more experienced and battle-hardened Spaniard next to him should help him play better as well.
Centre-back: Inigo Martinez
The defeat to Osasuna perhaps reminded Barcelona of just how important Inigo Martinez has been this season. Despite playing in an injury-plagued team, the La Liga veteran has been one of the strongest foundations for Hansi Flick’s side in this campaign.
Left-back: Alejandro Balde
Without a doubt, Alejandro Balde possesses the unique ability to bypass opposition lines in the blink of an eye. This trait allows him to remain a key player in Flick’s team, as his defensive transitions are also just as useful when needed.
CDM: Marc Casado
A player whose presence has been quite crucial for Barcelona so far this season as soon as Marc Bernal got injured, Marc Casado has been the embodiment of Flick’s team in terms of the way he plays. For this game, his presence must be considered a guarantee if the team wants to play to their strengths.
CDM: Pedri
Even in desperate situations, Pedri always seems to know what to do and how to pull it off. For a team like Barcelona that is full of stars and tactical adjustments, a player like Pedri can bring in a breathe of fresh air and turn the game on its head.
RAM: Lamine Yamal
Rested for much of the game against Osasuna, Lamine Yamal should be fresh and ready to go for the game against Young Boys. So far the only Barcelona player to score in the Champions League this season, the Barça prodigy will definitely want to keep increasing that number.
CAM: Pablo Torre
With Eric Garcia suspended for this game, it would seem likely that Pedri would be dropped into a deeper position by Hansi Flick. As such, the game looks poised for Pablo Torre to get yet another chance to start and potentially help out the team as much as he can in attack.
The workhorse in the attack, Raphinha remains a key component of Hansi Flick’s machine. His absence was felt against Osasuna but he should be ready to start this upcoming game.
