Tottenham Hotspur need to produce arguably their best performance of the season against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night to reach the last eight of the Europa League.

Spurs are trailing 1-0 from the first leg, and a strong performance is needed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tonight. Ange Postecoglou is likely to make a few changes from the previous game, as he needs to make some big decisions.

Tottenham have not won in their last three matches, and they are heading into the fixture after a 2-2 draw against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday.

Kevin Danso picked up a hamstring injury in the previous game, and he will be out for a while. Ben Davies and Micky van de Ven are back in the side.

Richarlison is progressing on his rehabilitation from his calf injury, but he is nowhere near to be included in the matchday squad.

Rodrigo Bentancur is unavailable for the second leg through suspension, while Dejan Kulusevski and Radu Dragusin are currently out injured.

How Spurs could line-up against AZ Alkmaar

In Danso’s absence, Postecoglou is likely to start with Van de Ven. Although Davies is fit, the Spurs boss is likely to make a big decision on the 23-year-old centre-back given the importance of this fixture. Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro, and Djed Spence are all expected to start.

In midfield, James Maddison will be brought back into the side as Postecoglou needs creativity from the middle of the park. Lucas Bergvall was brilliant in the previous game, and he is likely to start in place of Yves Bissouma.

Brennan Johnson was shockingly poor against Bournemouth, and Postecoglou could be tempted to start with Mathys Tel on the right-hand side. Dominic Solanke and Son Heung-Min are also going to start.
