After his brace against FC Köln to eliminate local rivals FC Köln from the DFB Pokal in midweek, Victor Boniface is set to start ahead of Patrik Schick in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Having both Boniface and Schick in the same squad is a nice option to have for Xabi Alonso, given the duo have scored 30 goals and created a further two between them in all competitions this season.
But one player that Alonso will be without is Alex Grimaldo after he was sent off for a second bookable offence during their 3-1 win against Hoffenheim last weekend. That means Piero Hincapié is likely to start in place of his teammate in a 3-4-3.
As for Wolfsburg, Kamil Grabara is sidelined with a thigh injury which means a first Bundesliga start in goal for Marius Müller. Mohamed Amoura is in excellent form this season, and expect the Algerian forward to start in a three-pronged attack alongside Tiago Tomas and Jonas Wind.
Wolfsburg: Müller – Fischer, Vavro, Koulierakis, Maehle – Arnold, Svanberg, Wimmer – Tomas, Amoura – Wind
Bayer Leverkusen: Hradecky – Mukiele, Tah, Tapsoba, Hincapie – Andrich – Xhaka, Aleix Garcia – Tella, Wirtz, Boniface
