Presnel Kimpembe likely to miss the remainder of the season for PSG | OneFootball

After nearly two years away from the pitch, Presnel Kimpembe (29) will spend some more time on the sidelines once again.

The Paris Saint-Germain defender is dealing with a right foot injury that will likely require him to miss several weeks, the club announced on Friday.

The 2018 World Cup winner with Les Bleus was unavailable for nearly two years after rupturing his Achilles tendon in late February 2023 during his side’s 3-0 victory over arch-rivals Olympique de Marseille.

In January of last year, he underwent surgery to repair that tendon and had only returned to the PSG lineup in February 2025, featuring in their 2-0 Coupe de France victory over Le Mans.

The PSG vice-captain was on the substitutes’ bench on Tuesday at the Emirates Stadium when his team defeated Arsenal 1-0 in the opening leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final tie.

Kimpembe’s earliest projected return is in mid-June when Les Parisiens travel to Miami for the Club World Cup. He has only featured in two Ligue 1 fixtures this season and has not played for France since 2022.

Kimpembe has won eight Ligue 1 titles for the club and was selected to the Ligue 1 Team of the Year for the 2020-21 campaign, when they finished second. In December 2023, while still recovering from his Achilles injury, he signed a contract extension to remain in Paris until 2026.

He last played for Les Parisiens was on April 19, when he came on for Desiré Doué (19) for the final nine minutes of their 2-1 triumph over Le Havre AC.
