At FLW we have taken a look at the latest transfer news surrounding Preston North End.
Preston North End will be targeting a spot in the play-offs next season after finishing just outside the top six last year.
Incomings and outgoings could be a crucial aspect behind achieving their aspirations, but North End must ensure they don't labour in signing their targets.
So far, we have just seen one arrival, with Sam Greenwood linking up with the squad in Spain after signing on loan from Leeds United for the season.
With a month and a half left in the window, there is still plenty of time for more business to be done and at Football League World we have detailed the latest transfer news surrounding the club.
Stefán Teitur Thórdarson is believed to be on the verge of signing for Preston after reports emerged on Sunday linking him to North End.
According to Danish outlet Tipsbladet, the deal is worth somewhere in the region of £600,000 with the Icelandic international only having a minor six months left on his contract at Silkeborg.
For Preston, this will be great news, and they will be even more happy to know that they managed to beat two fellow Championship sides in Derby County and Queens Park Rangers to his signature.
With personal terms now agreed, only media formalities and medicals remain to be sorted, and then the deal will be announced to the PNE fans.
An imposing attacking midfielder, Thórdarson can be a huge presence in Ryan Lowe's midfield and his 11 goals in all competitions would be helpful for a side who are targeting the play-offs.
Harrison Burrows was always going to be a name on a number of Championship shortlists this summer and Preston have a real fight on their hands if they want to sign him.
The Peterborough Telegraph reported last week that a fee had been agreed between Peterborough and Sheffield United and that Burrows had passed a medical and agreed personal terms.
Despite these claims, the red and black side of Sheffield are currently embroiled in a takeover issue, meaning a deal does not appear imminent at this stage.
North End are looking to take advantage of this, but have come short so far in their approaches, with the Lancashire club having a bid rejected, according to Alan Nixon.
With Posh manager, Darren Ferguson confirming that Burrows is likely to leave this summer, this saga seems like it will continue, and an improved bid could see Preston sign the free-flowing left-back.
Three midfielders left PNE upon the expiry of their contracts, creating a need to reinforce the center of the park. So far, Greenwood and Thórdarson have signed, but both are more attacking-minded and this could lead Lowe to targeting a more solid, defensive option.
The two links that have appeared in the past couple of weeks are former Burnley man, Jack Cork and Adam Phillips of Barnsley.
Cork would, of course, be the experienced option, having made over 500 appearances in England's top two divisions. In addition, he would also be relatively cheap, having left Burnley last month following the expiry of his contract.
At 35-years-of-age he may have somewhat passed his best, but you still feel like he could provide a significant contribution to North End.
At the other end of the scale, we have 26-year-old Phillips, who was superb for Barnsley in central-midfield last season.
Despite interest, the Tykes are yet to receive any bids for their midfielder and are 'determined' to retain his services heading into the new season.
