Wycombe Wanderers and Charlton Athletic face off this Saturday at the Adams Park in EFL League One.
In their last game, Wycombe Wanderers lost 1-3 against Stockport County (EFL League One 2024/2025). In their last match, Charlton Athletic prevailed 3-1 against Burton Albion (EFL League One 2024/2025).
The last meeting between the two teams ended with Charlton Athletic winning 4-0.
George Gutteridge (The Wycombe Way): Theres an ominous feeling around Adams Park heading into this years play-off campaign. Its somewhere between cautious optimism and utter disbelief that we even find ourselves in this situation.
The Wanderers faithful wouldve snapped your hand off for a top six finish in the summer of 2024, but it doesnt feel all that successful when automatic promotion is in your hands with just three games to go. Its only when you look at those three games, you realise the task on Wycombes hands over the next two weeks or so. Trounced, outfought and outplayed by the three teams also competing for a place in next years Championship. Im not going to mention the Charlton result on Easter Monday, just so I can hold onto a little bit of hope.
Regardless of what happens, its been a top season. Wycombe in the League One play-offs was a silly little dream just ten years ago, so naturally we should be over the moon.
Lets see. Wycombe have (hopefully) three games to create history. Promotion to the second tier, a real possibility for just the second time in the clubs history. That strange feeling could all be forgotten about very soon, or it could be a long summer.
All we can ask is that the lads on the pitch give it absolutely everything theyve got. What will be, will be. UTW!
Prediction: 1-0
Stuart Court (Cafc Facts and Stats): Charlton enter for the 7th time into the Football League Play offs with 22 points from their last 10 games and face a Wycombe side who they have done the double over this season including arguably their most impressive performance of the season when they won 4-0 at Adams Park on Easter Monday.
Injury doubts linger over Supporters Player of the Year, Lloyd Jones, Luke Berry and Thierry Small and Charlton fans will be hoping these three are back on Sunday night.
Also Chuks Aneke wont be available until the second leg of the semi final due to Suspension.
Charlton will hope to evoke memories of when they last secured Championship promotion with an injury time winner against Sunderland six years ago.
The Addicks will need to be at their very best over the next three games but with Matt Godden on top form with 21 goals this season they have a man that could fire them back into the Championship.
