Gent have announced that Angolan left-back Nurio Fortuna is joining Dunkerque on loan until the end of the season. The Ligue 2 club are currently fourth in the table as they chase promotion to the top flight of French football. Fortuna, who can play as a left-back or left-midfielder, has been out of favour at Gent this season and was a player they were looking to move on this January. There is no purchase option included as the 29-year-old is out of contract in the summer.
Fortuna has only made six appearances for Gent this season, with four of these coming in Europe. He joined Gent from Charleroi in 2020 and has gone on to make 140 appearances, scoring five goals. Prior to that he was at another Belgian club in Charleroi, where he played 91 games over three seasons. The defender is a former Portuguese youth international, having come through at Braga. He then switched his international allegiances to Angola and has been capped at the senior level.
