Raków switch for Nowak

Polish midfielder Bartosz Nowak has made the short switch from Górnik Zabrze to Raków Czéstochowa, the latter club announced on Wednesday. The 28-year-old has signed a three-year contract at the Ekstraklasa wicemistrz, with the option to extend for a further 12 months.

Radom-born Nowak had been one of Górnik’s most impressive players over the last two seasons, after his switch from fellow Ekstraklasa club Stal Mielec in 2020. He made 71 appearances for the Trójkolorowi, scoring 15 goals and providing 11 assists.

Prior to Mielec, Nowak – who turns 29 later this month – had spent time at Górnik’s biggest rivals, Ruch Chorzów, as well as fellow Silesian club Polonia Bytom and Miedź Legnica.

Nowak is the latest arrival at Limanowskiego 83, following the summer acquisitions of Gustav Berggren (BK Hacken), Fabian Piasecki (Śląsk Wrocław), and Strátos Svárnas (AEK Athens), as coach Marek Papszun attempts to lead the club to a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
