Barcelona locked horns with Atletico Madrid late on Tuesday night in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal clash at Montjuic.
The game began disastrously for the Catalans as the visitors opened the scoring in just the first minute before Antoine Griezmann doubled their lead minutes later.
Down two goals and with their backs against the wall, Barcelona found hope when Pedri pulled one back and Pau Cubarsi almost instantly levelled the scores with a great header.
Inigo Martinez’s goal late in the half completed the comeback before half-time and Barcelona looked good to even extend their lead.
The second half, however, was very cagey as both sides met each other blow for blow but Lewandowski came off the bench to score a fourth.
Atletico Madrid, however, pulled two goals back late in the game to make to 4-4.
Barça Universal brings you the player ratings from Barcelona 4-4 Atletico Madrid.
The Barcelona goalkeeper could not do much to deny Atletico Madrid’s opening goal but got a good touch on the second strike and should have kept it out.
Was largely solid in between the sticks apart from that singular error and did well even occasionally stepping out of his area.
The left-back did not see as much of the ball as he would have liked as most of Barcelona’s buildups occurred on the right flank.
Yet, he did a great job stopping the visitors’ counterattacks down the flank and combined well with Raphinha when given a chance to step forward and press.

While he can be faulted for the initial mess that gave Los Rojiblancos the lead, Martinez was largely solid at the back and held his lines well.
Stepped up and scored on demand to give Barcelona the 3-2 lead in the first half with a well-timed run and header.
Should have done better to defend the lead at the death.

A special night for the La Masia starlet as he scored his first goal for the senior team under pressure to make it 2-2 on the night.
Was caught out of position a couple of times in the first half but recovered well to the early setback and began dishing out his usual world-class play.
The French defender had a busy game against Atletico Madrid with most attacks running through him and Lamine Yamal down the right.
Struck up a fabulous cross to set up Pedri’s goal and generally exhibited great coordination with Yamal both on and off the ball.

The Dutchman dished out a good showing in midfield with a great sense of control in possession.
Helped keep the ball in circulation and orchestrate the play from deep while also acting as a pivot for the team.
The Canary Islander was at the heart of Barcelona’s buildup and ball circulation once more and was one of the only Catalan players who looked completely unfazed even by Atleti’s orchestrated press.
Scored Barcelona’s first goal at Montjuic with a solid strike off Kounde’s assist and helped the team get back into the game.
While Olmo did not have any goal contributions to show in the first half, his movements as the number 10 were critical in throwing Diego Simeone’s side off time and time again.
Was decent after the break but did not come up with any groundbreaking contribution.

Yamal continued to be Barcelona’s biggest threat in the final third and was back to his best after two mixed performances.
The youth star created a tangible threat every time he got on the ball and kept Javi Galan under immense pressure on the flank. Earned the pre-assist for the team’s opener.
Did stupendously well to create Lewandowski’s goal after the break with a magical dribble.
The Brazilian star again ticked all the boxed he usually does, both in defence and in attack.
While he did not have any direct goalscoring opportunities in the first half, he earned two assists from the corner flag for both Martinez and Cubarsi’s goals.
A wasteful start for Torres as he made an absolute mess out of two golden goalscoring chances.
On both occasions, he had only the goalkeeper to beat with acres of space but he simply could not keep his composure as he does when he comes off the bench.
Came off the bench and scored one of the simplest goals of his career off Yamal’s assist. Had a great chance to score a brace minutes later but could not capitalise on Raphinha’s cross.
