Barcelona may have lost their thrilling Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan last night, but former Leeds winger Raphinha's goal saw him equal a long-standing record set by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Brazilian forward Raphinha thought he had booked his side's place in the final when he flashed home from close range to put the Blaugrana 3-2 ahead with just minutes of normal time remaining.

However, 37-year-old defender Francesco Acerbi scored a dramatic 93rd minute equaliser to force extra time and Inter sub Davide Frattesi then struck in overtime to send a jubilant Inter through to the final courtesy of a 7-6 aggregate win.

Barcelona can count themselves unlucky to exit the competition, Inter keeper Yann Sommer denying them with several outstanding saves, but the Catalan club's defeat has put Raphinha's incredibly productive 2024/25 campaign in the competition to an end.

After his goal last night, the 28-year-old has a total of 21 goal involvements in the current edition of Europe's premier cup competition: 13 goals and eight assists.

To highlight the scale of this achievement, only Portuguese icon Cristiano Ronaldo (17 goals and four assists) has ever enjoyed such a bountiful single Champions League season.

However, in CR7's case there was a happy ending: Ronaldo scoring in the final as Real Madrid won the competition following a 4-1 win over crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid in the final.
