1. The situation in the table

  1. Despite a tough defeat away at Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend, RBL remain in the running for a Champions League spot. Head coach Zsolt Löw's side are currently in fifth place with 49 points, just behind SC Freiburg (4th, 51 points). A win against Bayern would therefore be enough to leapfrog the Breisgau side and move up into a Champions League spot. FCB are currently top of the table (75 points) with an eight-point lead over Bayer 04 Leverkusen (65).

2. Tough-tackling RBL

  1. In order to take something from the record champions, RBL will need to make sure to win their challenges. "We need to make sure that we're able to withstand their pressure and that we get stuck into our tackles," David Raum said ahead of the game.Winning duels is one of Leipzig's biggest strengths this season. The team have won a league high 3,184 challenges so far in 2024/25. Upcoming opponents Bayern have won 2,948 of their duels (8th).

3. Šeško on a run

  1. RBL striker Benjamin Šeško knows how to score against FC Bayern, having found the back of the net once in both his last two Bundesliga games against the Bavarians.Additionally, the striker is currently our top goalscorer this season with 12 goals to his name. Benji has had a hand in 12 goals at the Red Bull Arena this term (8 goals, 4 assists). Only Bayern's Harry Kane (18 goal involvements) and Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitiké (14) have been involved in more goals on home soil.

4. Bayern without their top goalscorer

  1. FC Bayern will be without Harry Kane on Saturday. The England captain currently tops the league's goalscorer charts (24 goals), but is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the 3-0 win against Mainz 05 last weekend. The Bavarians will also be without Manuel Neuer, former RBL defender Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala due to injury. Kane and Musiala have had a hand in the most goals for FCB this season, but are both set to miss this weekend's clash in Leipzig. Meanwhile, Leipzig will be without Chad Bitshiabu, who was sent off for a professional foul in Frankfurt last weekend. The centre-back will now be suspended for one match.

5. Plenty of clean sheets

  1. Head coach Vincent Kompany's side kept their 14th clean sheet of the season against Mainz last time out, the most of any side in the league. RBL are just behind them with 13 shutouts in 2024/25. Peter Gulacsi was in goal for all 13 of these matches and has therefore kept the most clean sheets of any Bundesliga goalkeeper this season.
