A recent update from journalist Jorge Picon, as relayed by RM4 Arab, has revealed that Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has yet to recover fully from his injury.
In fact, the journalist mentions that the Uruguayan played through discomfort in the thigh area against Atletico Madrid, pushing himself to be available for such a crucial match.
Doubts over Valverde’s fitness persisted until the final training session. The coaching staff monitored him closely, waiting until after the session to assess his condition and determine whether he was fit to play.
Despite not being at his best physically, he gave positive signs and made the decision to play, understanding the significance of the fixture.
Although he is in better shape now, he has not completely recovered and had to endure pain during the match.
Despite this, he started the game at full intensity, displaying his usual energy and playing a key role in the opening goal. His well-placed pass behind Javi Galan found Rodrygo, who made no mistake in converting the chance.
Throughout the first half, Valverde was sharp and alert, making crucial defensive interventions.

One notable moment came in the 27th minute when he applied pressure on Samuel Lino, disrupting the opponent’s attempt to equalise. However, as the match progressed, the physical strain became evident.
By the 70th minute, his body began to show signs of fatigue. After a defensive action, he appeared to experience discomfort and showed slight signs of limping.
While it was not an exaggerated reaction, it was clear that he was feeling the effects of pushing through the injury. Lucas Vazquez was preparing to replace him, but Valverde insisted on continuing.
It was only in the 82nd minute that he finally signalled for a substitution, allowing Lucas to take his place.
In an effort to manage his condition, the medical team took extra precautions, including bandaging his injured thigh to prevent further damage.
Real Madrid did everything possible to ensure Valverde could play without aggravating his injury. In the next few days, the team will be extra cautious in managing his fitness.
