Real Madrid’s 2-5 hammering to Barcelona has raised several questions about the team’s sustainability and depth in certain departments – some more than others.
The defence, needless to say, is the department most widely being discussed as fans and many internal voices see it to be in a state of jeopardy.
After all, Aurelien Tchouameni and Lucas Vazquez were horrible in the recent defeat to Barcelona.
As relayed in a recent report by Mario Cortegana, Carlo Ancelotti has insisted internally that the team needs some strategic signings in January to improve the situation, especially given the injury crisis.
Real Madrid’s administration, however, do not believe in spending money in January and are thus dead against the possibility. In fact, it was rumoured earlier today that a decision has been made that no new name will arrive in the winter.

While there is a clear division of opinion regarding the team’s transfer stance for the ongoing window, there has also been significant discussion over Real Madrid’s poor planning in the summer transfer window.
Many internal voices believe Florentino Perez should have done more to strengthen the team’s defence in the summer after being snubbed by Leny Yoro. After all, that coupled with Nacho’s departure left the department exposed.
With no new name likely to arrive in January, much to Ancelotti’s dismay, it remains to be seen how the manager guides the team out of the current mess.
David Alaba’s imminent return, for starters, will be a crucial boost and the manager will hope the Austrian can return to complete match-fitness at the earliest. Concurrently, questions must be raised over Aurelien Tchouameni’s shortcomings as a defender.
