Kylian Mbappé’s arrival at Real Madrid has definitely changed the dynamic among the team’s wingers, pushing some players further down the pecking order. From the start, there were worries about how the French star would impact playing time for the others.
The 2024-25 season has been full of ups and downs for the Spanish side as they adjust to life with Mbappé in the squad.
Looking ahead, though, the big question is whether this setup will continue beyond this season. When the summer transfer window opens, will any players start to rethink their future at the club?
With Mbappé and Vinicius Jr. now central to Real Madrid’s attack, Rodrygo could face some tough competition in securing a key role.

Recently, RMC Sport reported that PSG are indeed putting its focus on Rodrygo this summer. The French outlet reveals that the first step would be convincing the player to consider a change of scenery.
The pitch would be that his role at PSG would be central, unlike his current secondary role at Real Madrid, where he plays in the shadow of Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappé.
At PSG, he’d be the focal point of Luis Enrique’s attack and enjoy a substantial financial upgrade. This would be the only viable way to secure the transfer. Nonetheless, Real Madrid have no intention of negotiating with the capital club for the player who has a €1 billion release clause.
According to DefensaCentral, Florentino Pérez, the president of Real Madrid, has made it clear that he doesn’t see any scenario where Rodrygo would leave the club, especially not to a rival like PSG. Relations between the two clubs have been strained in recent years, particularly with Kylian Mbappé’s situation.
Despite PSG’s interest and other potential offers, Rodrygo remains fully focused on his role at Real Madrid. The Brazilian has turned down offers from top European clubs like Manchester City in the past, showing his commitment to the team. At the Bernabéu, the stance is firm: Rodrygo will only leave if someone triggers his release clause.
Liverpool could be eyeing a top-tier winger next summer, with Mohamed Salah still not having committed to a contract extension. The club might be planning for life without their star forward.
Former Liverpool player Daniel Murphy has suggested the Reds should look at Real Madrid’s Rodrygo as a possible replacement for Salah in 2025.
