Real Madrid’s poor April continued as they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Arsenal, thanks to a 1-2 defeat in the second leg.
Despite high expectation of a comeback at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid faltered pretty badly against the Gunners, who secured the tie with an aggregate score of 5-1.
Defeat to Arsenal has now put immense pressure on the future of Ancelotti, with even Brazil football federation stepping up their efforts to hire the Italian.
According to Rodra P, key figures inside the Real Madrid dressing room have made their feelings clear to president Florentino Perez that they no longer believe Carlo Ancelotti is the right man for the job.
The belief is that the manager had no tactical plan to overcome Arsenal, and that Real Madrid’s only strategy was based around “intensity” and “commitment”.
The players reportedly left the Bernabeu that night convinced there was no real direction or structure in place.

The club’s board is also unhappy, not just with Ancelotti, but with certain underperforming players as well.
The report even goes on to suggest that some players were “pampered” throughout the season, only to let the team down when it mattered most.
Even so, there is a growing sense at Valdebebas that changing the dynamic will require a new voice on the bench. Internally, this feels like the end of an era.
As such, the possibility of Ancelotti’s departure has increased multifold and it is now up to Real Madrid, as to how they want to approach this situation.
The board does have an amicable relationship with the Italian and therefore, it is unlikely Real Madrid would want to sack Ancelotti effective immediately. However, a lot may depend on the offer from Brazil, who wants to bring in Ancelotti as soon as possible.
The upcoming Copa del Rey final against Barcelona may also go a long way in deciding the fate of Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
