The powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid have identified a pair of potential long-term additions to the club’s defensive ranks.

That’s according to Diario AS, who have on Saturday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

It has been common knowledge for some time now that the brass at Real Madrid are on the lookout for fresh blood at centre-half.

Carlo Ancelotti’s squad is currently concerningly short on central defensive options, after the club’s summer pursuit of Lille sensation Leny Yoro proved fruitless.

The scouting department at the Santiago Bernabéu, in turn, have kicked into gear a search for alternative targets.

And, amidst as much, two names have come to the fore, front and centre.

The first is that of Palmeiras sensation Vitor Reis. An 18-year-old Brazilian youth international, Reis is widely regarded as one of the standout emerging talents in all of South America.

And also understood to be on the radar of Real Madrid is Yasek Gąsiorowski. A more familiar name to followers of Spanish football, 19-year-old Yarek has long been making a name for himself on the books of another of La Liga’s clubs, in Valencia.

After previously reporting on Los Blancos’ interest in the Spaniard, AS have this weekend doubled down, amid confirmation that, next summer, the reigning European champions are likely to move forward with a move for one of Yarek, or Vitor Reis.
