Nico Paz has been on a tear since leaving Real Madrid for Como in the summer transfer window last year.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has become one of the Serie A side’s most important players, racking up nine goal involvements (G5, A4).

Interest in the Argentine sensation is soaring while Como are working hard to secure his long-term future at the club.

As part of that plan, the Italians have approached Real Madrid to remove the buyback clause and the future sell-on clause that the Merengues have for Paz from the agreement, even willing to offer €15-20 million for that.

Real Madrid will not accept

However, according to Guillermo Rai of The Athletic, Real Madrid have no plans of accepting such a proposal and removing the buyback clauses they have for Nico Paz.

As per the report, Real Madrid continue to maintain contact with the Argentine international’s representatives, with the club’s director of youth football, Manuel Fernandez, even meeting with them during the UEFA Champions League match against Atalanta.

The player enjoys a good relationship with the club, although other teams have also expressed interest in him.

Moreover, manager Carlo Ancelotti has left the doors open for Nico to return to the club in the future if he continues to develop like this.

Nico open to return

The report further states that Nico Paz, is a total Madridista, and would welcome a return to Madrid but also understands that it is a process that takes time.

Meanwhile, a member of the club’s board also feels that the youngster’s return at this time would be premature, given that someone like Arda Guler is also struggling for minutes under Ancelotti.

Real Madrid value Nico’s potential, but also recognise that he would only be reintegrated into the team if there is room for him to develop and make an impact, which at the moment appears difficult.

However, Los Blancos have two more buyback clauses worth €9 million and €10 million for the youngster for 2026 and 2027, meaning they still maintain control over his future, which they do not intend to relinquish.
