Real Madrid were humbled by Arsenal last night at the Emirates Stadium, with the reigning European champions being condemned to a 3-0 defeat.

After a decent first-half display, Los Blancos ended up collapsing brutally in the second period, getting outplayed by the Premier League club at every step.

As if the three-goal deficit was not enough, Real Madrid even saw midfielder Eduardo Camavinga get sent off late in stoppage time for a second bookable offence, leaving them a player short for the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The French youngster had been booked in the 69th minute for a foul on Bukayo Saka and was later given his marching orders for kicking the ball away in frustration during stoppage time.

Camavinga apologises to fans

Following his rash actions, leading to his suspension for the do-or-die second leg against Arsenal next week, Camavinga has taken to social media to issue an apology to the Real Madrid fans.

The midfielder wrote: “To all the Madridistas, my frustration got the better of me at the end of the game and for this I want to apologise.”

Calling for their support next week, he added: “We must continue to believe and we will need you in the second leg. All together! Hasta el final! Hala Madrid!”

Camavinga’s performances, particularly his ill-discipline, is bound to be a concern for Real Madrid, considering that he has also given away needless penalties on multiple occasions this season.

Carlo Ancelotti, though, will have Aurelien Tchouameni back for the match at the Santiago Bernabeu, who should reclaim his spot in the lineup in the absence of his compatriot.
