Recent Milan Killer Could Become Future Bosman Target

Gabriele Zappa had the best performance of his career against Milan in Round 12. His agent quickly offered him to the Rossoneri since his contract runs out at the end of the season. He has found great consistency under Davide Nicola after some uneven campaigns. He has started in every match and subbed off just once.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, his representative Giuseppe Riso was at the Unipol Domus on Saturday. He spoke about his client’s future with exec Geoffrey Moncada. Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi are unlikely to re-up their expiring deals, opening a hole at the right-back position.

The Zappa camp and Milan aren’t engaged in a negotiation at this point, but he’s become an option. The Rossoneri envision Emerson Royal as their long-term starter after investing in him last summer. They need a proper deputy too, unless they trust Filippo Terracciano and Alex Jimenez.

Cagliari will try to keep ahold of the fullback, who has adapted to the ‘braccetto’ role this season. However, his recent showings fuel his demands and might allow him to jump to a bigger team. He’s been with them since 2021 following a €3.2M transfer from Pescara. The 24-year-old is an Inter product.

Our Take on Zappa and Milan

They could take a flier on somebody like him, who could easily turn into a career backup in a big team thanks to his versatility, relatively young age, and modest contractual demands. He was touted early but didn’t fully live up to expectations. Plus, his team’s relegation two years ago caused him to fall off the radar. He’s reinvented himself a little this year with sound results. He’s more interesting in a three-man line, as, despite his recent brace, he’s not superb offensively.
