América are to reportedly ready to complete a surprise u-turn on winger Renato Ibarra.
According to RÉCORD, the Azulcrema are going to register the 30-year-old in their squad for the upcoming Apertura season.
Ibarra spent a year on loan at Atlas after being frozen out by the hierarchy at Las Águilas.
The Ecuador international was told he would never play for the club again after he was charged with domestic violence offences in March 2020.
The charges were subsequently dropped after his wife denied saying that she had been abused.
Now manager Santiago Solari has apparently asked for Ibarra to be reintegrated, and he will return to the fold at the expense of Nicolás Benedetti.
Benedetti said recently that he expected to remain at the Estadio Azteca, but RÉCORD claims that he is not in Solari’s plans and will be offloaded during this transfer window.
América wrapped up their pre-season friendlies on Saturday with a home victory win over Atlante.
Youth player Karel Campos struck 20 minutes from time to give the Coapa their fourth consecutive 1-0 win.
