18-year-old Lyon prospect Mohamed El Arouch has caught the eye of Rennes, Marseille and Nice, according to a report from Foot Mercato. El Arouch is said to be the latest gem coming through the famed Lyon Academy, but the 18-year-old has told the club he would like to leave to increase his playing time, and a number of teams in both France and Spain are keeping an eye on him, whether for a loan deal or a permanent transfer. The potential arrival of Flamengo midfielder João Gomes reportedly strengthened his desire to leave.

El Arouch did not even make the OL squad today when Les Gones took on fifth-tier side Chambéry in a Coupe de France last 32 tie. According to Foot Mercato, three of Lyon’s rivals are ready to pounce for the player who proved instrumental in Lyon’s victory in the 2022 Gambardella Cup, the French equivalent of the FA Youth Cup. Rennes, Marseille and Nice have reportedly made contact with the player’s entourage. El Arouch is tied down to a contract with OL until 2025, and Les Gones favour a loan for their prospect.
