Al-Ahli winger Allan Saint-Maximin is reportedly on the cusp of joining Serie A title hopefuls Napoli on a dry loan. According to Calciomercato, Antonio Conte’s side will splash out around €3-4 million to sign the quicksilver forward.
Napoli reluctantly sanctioned Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s big-money transfer to Paris Saint-Germain a fortnight ago. They’ve since been in the market for a suitable replacement. Borussia Dortmund starlet Karim Adeyemi emerged as the likeliest candidate to fill the vacancy.
But despite coming close to agreeing a deal with the Bundesliga outfit, Napoli couldn’t convince the lightning-fast winger to swap Signal Iduna Park for Serie A. Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho was a fallback option, yet talks with the Red Devils never took off.
Meanwhile, time has become a factor, forcing Napoli to scour the market for a late alternative. Saint-Maximin will fill the void in all likelihood. Indeed, the Saudi Pro League heavyweights have allowed the 27-year-old to join the Partenopei a loan without an obligation to buy.
Saint-Maximin spent the first half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Fenerbahce. However, his career in Istanbul didn’t go to plan, with Jose Mourinho agreeing to terminate his short-term deal at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, freeing the Frenchman to team up with Napoli.
His upcoming arrival may not be the only winter transfer at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Indeed, Napoli and Fiorentina are in advanced talks for up-and-coming center-back Pietro Comuzzo to join the three-time Italian champions after their pursuit of Danilo hit a brick wall.
