Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a significant summer exodus as several players near the end of their time at the club according to a report on Sky Sports. The anticipated overhaul signals a fresh direction under Ange Postecoglou, with decisions already made on multiple squad members ahead of a potentially transformative transfer window.
Sources have indicated that Fraser Forster and Alfie Whiteman will depart North London, while Sergio Reguilon is also expected to move on. Reguilon, once seen as a long-term solution at left-back, has managed just six appearances in three years for Spurs and has found himself out of favour, even during loan spells.
The defensive reshuffle doesn’t stop there. Veteran Welsh defender Ben Davies could also be heading for the exit door. His contract expires in June, but Tottenham do have an option to extend the 31-year-old’s stay by 12 months. A verdict is expected within days, with his future in the balance.
Reguilon’s situation is more straightforward. Despite his early promise upon arriving from Real Madrid, the Spaniard has not featured prominently since 2021 and is now set to move on in search of regular football.

Timo Werner, who returned to London in January on a short-term deal from RB Leipzig, will also be leaving. Spurs have opted not to trigger the purchase option on the Germany international. Despite flashes of quality, Werner failed to recapture the form that once made him one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous forwards.
He returns to Leipzig after an underwhelming stint that did little to change the perception from his previous time in the Premier League with Chelsea.
“Tottenham will not trigger the option in Timo Werner’s loan, with the ex-Chelsea forward to return to RB Leipzig after a poor second spell.”
While some departures are settled, others remain in flux. One such case is that of Mathys Tel, the 19-year-old French forward on loan from Bayern Munich. Tel made 20 appearances for Spurs in the 2024–25 season, finding the net three times and showing glimpses of promise.
There is an option to make the deal permanent, and although the clause has a specific deadline – believed to fall between 1–10 June – Spurs are yet to make a final call. The delay suggests ongoing internal discussions over Tel’s potential, value, and role in the club’s long-term project.
“A call is also required on the option to turn Mathys Tel’s loan from Bayern Munich into a permanent deal. Tel scored three times in 20 appearances for Spurs and while there is a deadline to trigger the option, no decision is expected before the early summer transfer window of June 1 to 10.”
The scale of movement points to a clear strategy from the Spurs hierarchy. Postecoglou is determined to mould a squad more aligned with his philosophy – high intensity, technical quality, and squad depth. Letting go of fringe or ageing players opens the door for new additions, and perhaps more significantly, creates space for homegrown or academy talent to emerge.
As Tottenham look to break into the top tier of Premier League contenders, this summer may mark the most pivotal reshaping of the squad since the Mauricio Pochettino era.
