RFC Seraing have become yet another club to part ways with their manager during the 2022/2023 season, as the club announced that they have sacked José Jeunechamps. Like many of those who have been fired this season, Jeunechamps only joined the side in the summer. In the short announcement, the club stated that assistant manager Jean-Sébastien Legros would be head coach, with no indication that they will be looking for anyone else. Jeunechamps is the seventh manager to go this season, with the eighth potentially coming soon.
Jeunechamps took over a side that was expected to be a certainty for automatic relegation. The side have failed to win any of their home games so far this season, but have impressed with performances against the bigger sides in the division. However, the Seraing board were clearly wanting to make a change, with three defeats in a row and no wins in the last five, the side are second bottom, but only a point off safety.
Seraing’s rise to the first division of Belgian football was helped by a partnership with FC Metz. However, after Metz relegation to Ligue 2, the French club decided to send less players to Belgium. Seraing were forced to look to the lower tiers of European football and second teams in order to build a squad for the season, which despite its position has performed better than expected.
