Former Juventus and Genoa midfielder Tomas Rincon spoke to Paolo Maldini after Italy’s win over Venezuela and asked him about his son Daniel who could be eligible to be called up by the South Americans.

Milan legend Maldini was in the stands at the Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday night to watch Italy’s win over Venezuela. He even met ex-Milan keeper Gigio Donnarumma before kick-off and spoke to Rincon, an ex-Serie A midfielder, after the final whistle.

“I asked him about his son Daniel, who scored an amazing goal in the last game,” the ex-Genoa and Juventus man told Vinotinto TV.

“He [Paolo] really liked what Venezuela did. He said we were quite competitive. I replied that we are developing as a team, and we didn’t have players like Yeferson Soteldo and Yangel Herrera.”

It is probably no coincidence that Rincon asked about Maldini’s son Daniel given that the 22-year-old Monza loanee could be eligible to play for Venezuela.

As reported by Tuttosport, in fact, Daniel Maldini is eligible to play for the South Americans through his mother Adriana Fossa, who was born in Venezuela.

According to the report, the federation is pushing to convince Maldini Jr. who scored three goals in 13 Serie A appearances this season.

The 22-year-old spent the first part of the season on loan at Empoli from Milan and moved to Monza in the January window.
