Fans of European football clubs find themselves in the middle of the month of January and the current transfer window is slowly edging to a close, but clubs of all colours are now really starting to get deals over the line and in Serie A player news, it seems that AS Roma may be nearing an agreement for Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi.Following his appointment at the Stadio Olimpico back in November, manager Claudio Ranieri continues to look at his squad options as he remains determined to help push up back up the Italian top flight table and hopefully make a late run for the European spots come the summer. For those fans who enjoy a small flutter on football betting, European odds as the summer nears will be something many will be watching. We have naturally been linked with a host of players on the speculation rumour mill, but it seems that there may be something concrete behind the links to the 25 year old, 25 capped, Italian international midfielder as the rumours just will not go away.Having had a successful loan spell at the San Siro back in the 2023/24 campaign, the player made the switch to them permanently over the summer but he continues to be mostly used as a substitute option by manager Simone Inzaghi, and it is widely believed that Ranieri would grant him a much wanted starting spot as he looks to his continued involvement with the national side. The sticking point would appear to be Inter’s valuation on the player, as having reportedly agreed to pay Sassuolo in the region of 30 million Euros, they are now holding out for a 15 million uplift, and at that price it is just too rich for us to entertain this month. It seems clear that the player himself is angling for a move ahead of the deadline day coming to a close, and reports suggest that his agent is doing all he can behind the scenes to get an acceptable deal on the table, but whilst amicable talks continue that valuation continues to be a major sticking point at this moment in time.As those behind the scenes talks progress between the varying parties, it is being claimed that we are investigating the potential of using Bryan Cristante or Lorenzo Pellegrini as make weights in a deal to get the final transfer fee sum into the region that we are willing to pay, but as of yet it does not seem that there has been movement on that front. It is however expected that Roma will put a firm first offer on the table at some point this week so real negotiation lines can be drawn and worked on in the weeks that remain, but it may well come down to whether or not the player officially asks for a move and applies that pressure. This might be a deal worth watching, but Juventus and Napoli are said to be keeping an eye on the situation and how it develops.
