Roma to Try to Talk Ranieri Into Staying on Their Bench

Roma have had an incredible pace with Claudio Ranieri at the helm, especially in 2025. They have collected 26 points in 10 matches. No side has done better in the top five leagues during the same timeframe. Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and PSG have picked up 25, La Repubblica informs.

The veteran has revitalized several players, with Matias Soulé being the latest of the bunch. The Giallorossi are averaging 2.2 points per game and have scored 38 goals, exactly 2 per match. The only thing left for them to prove is that they can hang with the top teams. Their only faux pas have come versus Napoli, Atalanta, and Milan in Coppa Italia. They have shared the spoils with the Rossoneri in Serie A, the Partenopei, and Bologna. They’ll have a few crunch matches down the stretch.

Ranieri has reiterated that he’ll retire and help Roma only as a consultant at the end of the season. The pressure for him to keep coaching is growing by the day. There’s not a hot candidate to replace him for now since the hierarchy will attempt to persuade him first.

If that doesn’t happen, the gaffer and the owner would like to go with a big name, for instance, Massimiliano Allegri or Carlo Ancelotti. Instead, part of the management would prefer an up-and-comer like Francesco Farioli, Giovanni Tedesco, or Cesc Fabregas. Vincenzo Montella could be the one who satisfies everybody.

Our Take on Roma and Ranieri

Their turnaround has been remarkable since they had all sorts of problems at first, but their schedule was also creampuffy. A few big tests await them. It’ll be challenging to find an equally beloved and competent coach.
