Barcelona have made no progress over a contract renewal for Ronald Araujo in the past 12 months, and while that deal appears to be going nowhere, it has opened up a route out of the club. The summer has been earmarked as a deadline for a new deal to be done, or the Blaugrana will look to sell him.

Juventus reportedly do have an agreement with Ronald Araujo on personal terms, and their interest could alter the situation. Relevo explain that there has been no formal contact between the two clubs, but that a contract renewal with Barcelona has reached a dead end.

Information from Radio Barcelona would seem to corroborate that. They say that in January of 2024, Barcelona made an offer to Araujo, and it did not receive a response. After he suffered his injury in the summer with Uruguay, he again received an offer, but Barcelona got no response. When asked, Araujo has explained that he is happy to stay at Barcelona, and the Blaugrana say they are keen to keep him, but there have been no advances.

Despite that stance, Barcelona will consider offers for him, amid interest from Juventus. They go on to say that if Araujo pushes for a departure, then the Blaugrana will also take that into account, and offers of around €60-70m will be considered.

In Italy, it has been reported that Juventus are looking for a loan with an obligation to buy deal, which could be an obstacle, but one that seems possible to negotiate around. A larger issue for the Bianconeri may be the reported interest from Arsenal, with Araujo seemingly preferring a move to the Premier League over Serie A.
