You remember Roque Santa Cruz don’t you? Of course you do.
Well it might surprise you to learn that the former Bayern Munich, Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City striker is still playing professionally at the ripe age of 42.
And this week the veteran striker set a new world record, when he found the net for Club Libertad in his native Paraguay.
Santa Cruz bagged a 91st-minute equaliser for the Paraguayan Primera División league leaders to earn them a 1-1 draw with Nacional.
It was his first goal of the season, and means he has now scored at least once in a professional league in every single season since 1998 – a run of 25 consecutive seasons.
That is reportedly a world record, and is an incredible achievement for the evergreen goal poacher.
Bravo Roque.
