Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim hopes Leny Yoro’s injury is not too serious after the defender was forced off in their 2-0 defeat to West Ham.
Goals from Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen saw Graham Potter’s side inflict a 17th Premier League defeat for Amorim’s side, with Yoro’s injury bringing more pain to the Red Devils.
Amorim was concerned by his side’s lack of urgency, something he says needs to change if United are to improve.
“If you look at the goals that we suffer we can avoid these goals,” Amorim said. “The lack of energy, of urgency. That is the most dangerous things in this club. You can feel it at the beginning of the game. Between our box and opponent’s box there is a lack of urgency. That is something we have to change in this club.
“I am responsible for that. It is frustrating because we are so near the goals. We have such a lack of urgency to protect our goal. This is week by week. We don’t play so well in the Europa League but we have a different sense of urgency.
“It’s something we need to work on. It’s inside the pitch and outside the pitch. If we are not able to do (that) we have to go away and give the space to different people. All of us.
“We are going to face a team from the Premier League so we are going to struggle. Of course we are going to be more focused, and that is a concern because we have to be focused every game.
“For me it doesn’t matter if we win the Europa League because the problems are much bigger than that.”
Amorim also hopes Yoro’s injury is not too bad, but gave a cautious update given the young Frenchman’s previous injury of a similar nature that kept him out for almost five months.
Yoro was attempting a back pass to goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, but immediately pulled up knowing he had an issue.
“He had that problem at the beginning of the season,” he said. “We hope it’s not too serious. I don’t want to say too much but maybe it’s not a big deal.”
