Saint-Étienne defender Dylan Batubinsika (29) was expecting to sign an autograph of a supporter following Les Verts defeat to OGC Nice in Ligue 1 last weekend, but instead he received a punch to the face after turning down his car window on his way out of Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. According to a report from L’Équipe the DR Congo international has now filed a legal complaint to the authorities over the assault. The supporter reportedly had a beer in hand and was clearly intoxicated. Yet, with police nearby, the assailant managed to run away. As of earlier this week, the identity of the agresser had still not been determined despite the presence of CCTV cameras. AS Saint-Étienne have decided, as a sign of solidarity, to bring a civil action once the legal proceedings had been initiated.Sainté lost 3-1 to Nice at the weekend, and currently sit second-bottom in Ligue 1 with 19 points. Les Verts face two huge fixtures against Le Havre next Sunday, and then Montpellier the following weekend which will go a long way to deciding the relegation battle. GFFN | George Boxall
