FC Barcelona are trying to make sure that they can end up retaining their best players moving forward. Given their precarious economic situation, one that is quite restrictive, the club believes that renewals are essential for the team right now. However, some cases are far more difficult for Barcelona to resolve than others.

Ronald Araujo’s contractual situation, for instance, was one that had Barça unsure about the outcome. With the player not willing to negotiate at first reportedly, the Catalan giants ultimately managed to sit down with him and come to an agreement over a new contract until 2031 that has now been made official as well.

However, other players also have pending contract renewals that are yet to be resolved. One of those players is 22-year-old Spaniard Pedri, whose contract renewal is reportedly a big priority for Barcelona and work is being done on it to finalize everything.

Yet, SPORT has now revealed that there is incoming interest from Saudi Arabia when it comes to the Barcelona Golden Boy. After having actively pursued Vinicius Jr of Real Madrid, the report says that the Middle Eastern clubs are now considering to make a push for the Barça midfield star.

Given their resources and the financial backing behind them, it would not be a wild claim to suggest that they have the financial means to pursue such a major transfer operation. For them, it would be a statement signing as well considering their future objectives.

With the 2034 World Cup set to be hosted by Saudi Arabia, a tournament that Pedri would likely participate in given that he would be only 31 years old by that point, it would be a good move from a marketing standpoint as well. Even previously, clubs from Saudi Arabia have spent a lot of money on buying players from Europe in order to boost traction.

However, at this very moment in time, the most realistic possibility is that the €100 million-rated midfielder will be staying with Barcelona. With a verbal agreement over his contract renewal already reached, it would seem that the young Spanish midfielder is destined to stay with the Catalan giants.
