AFCON 2025 will be without one of its biggest and brightest talent pools after continental giants and four-time AFCON winners Ghana failed to qualify for the winter tournament.

Atto Oddo's Black Stars, who notably entertained at the 2022 World Cup and are currently on course to qualify for the next installment in North America, failed to defeat Group F table-toppers Angola in a 1-1 draw away from home.

With that result, Ghana shockingly sits bottom of the group without a single win in five qualifying fixtures. Subsequently, they have been mathematically ruled out of the possibility of progressing to the tournament group stage.

It is the first time since the West African nation have missed out on the tournament in nearly two decades, while also recently struggling in 2021 and 2023 when they failed to see their way out of group play.

The likes of Mohamed Kudus, Antonie Semenyo, Ibrahim Osman, Ernest Nuamah, Thomas Partey, and Mohamed Salisu will now watch from a distance.

En route to a winless run in AFCON qualifying, Ghana have managed just two goals in five outings despite a star-studded squad compared to most, while also being shut-out on three occasions.
