It wasn’t a great weekend for Lenny having seen his side lose a crucial match against fellow strugglers Hamilton Accies on Saturday, with Reghan Tumilty getting the only goal of the match, before watching his old side Celtic suffering a shock defeat at McDiarmid Park less than 24 hours later when Brendan Rodgers’ side went down 1-0 to Simo Valakari’s battling St Johnstone side.
And after complaining about the referee, Neil Lennon, according to a report in Scottish Sun, has received a formal warning from the Scottish FA about his conduct, as Dunfermline held talks during this week with the governing body about the weekend’s match. A touchline ban would be the last thing that Neil needs – or indeed Dunfermline Athletic needs – as they look to retain their status in the Championship.
On Saturday afternoon Neil Lennon was angry about referee Euan Anderson who disallowed a Dunfermline goal after Lewis McCann found the back of the net and also denied Dunfermline a penalty. Two crucial decisions that could have severe implications for the Pars and hinder Neil Lennon’s ambition to gain a longer term contract at East End Park.
Anderson also booked the former Celtic captain and manager and now the Scottish FA appear to have issued a warning to the Dunfermline boss. In his post match interview Neil Lennon had this to say about the controversial incidents that all went against him.
“I don’t know if Hamilton or the referee’s decisions beat us today. I’ve seen some strange decisions this week and a lot have gone against my team. We’ll talk to Willie Collum about it, it’s not good enough.”

Neil Lennon added: “Disappointing result but I thought we dominated the game, we had good chances but it’s symptomatic of our season not taking chances. But we had a perfectly good goal disallowed. That’s three games at this level and the standard of refereeing has been abysmal.
“Lewis got a touch to it first, he beat the goalkeeper to the ball. How the referee decides that’s a foul, I think he’s guessed. We possibly could have had a penalty, it’s two hands on the back. It looked a penalty.”
As things stand Airdrie are bottom and in the relegation spot with 27 points. Dunfermline are currently second bottom and in the relegation play-off slot with 30 points. That vital win at the weekend gives Hamilton a two points lead over the Pars so they are on 32 points, just a point behind Queens Park on 33 points.

Can Neil Lennon keep Dunfermline up? If so it’s going to be done the hard way.
