Scottish Women’s Premier League’s first broadcast picks for new season | OneFootball

Broadcast selections for ScottishPower Women’s Premier League matches between rounds one and seven have been made.

BBC ALBA have selected a total of seven games across the opening seven rounds, starting with Aberdeen v Rangers. It will be Colin Bell’s first league match as head coach of Aberdeen with the 2015 UEFA Women’s Champions League winner looking to cause a shock on the first weekend of the season. Jo Potter’s side were 2-1 winners at the Balmoral Stadium in January.

BBC ALBA will also broadcast Celtic v Glasgow City the following Sunday, the first meeting between last season’s top three. City finished nine points behind both Celtic and Rangers and will be looking to reclaim the league title they won in 2022/23. Elena Sadiku’s side only lost once to Glasgow City in five meetings last season as they were crowned league winners for the first time in their history.

BBC Sport Scotland return this season with three confirmed live steams and their highlights show every Monday for weekend fixture rounds. This includes showing the opening day of the season as Celtic host Dundee United at Celtic Park on Saturday 10th August.

“Our partnership with the SWPL means fans can catch all of the excitement from seven opening fixtures on BBC ALBA and BBC iPlayer, and further matches throughout the season ahead.”

Douglas McNeil, BBC Sport Producer, said: “We are excited for the new SWPL season with three confirmed, starting with the reigning champions against Dundee United from Park live online and via BBC Sport Scotland. The highlights show also returns to bring viewers the action from the weekend’s games.”

Wednesday 21st August: Celtic v Motherwell – BBC ALBA – 7.20pm

Sunday 25th August: Aberdeen v Celtic – BBC Sport Scotland – 1.00pm

Sunday 25th August: Montrose v Rangers – BBC ALBA – 4.10pm

Friday 30th August: Celtic v Hibernian – BBC ALBA – 7.35pm

Friday 6th September: Hibernian v Heart of Midlothian – BBC ALBA – 7.35pm

Sunday 15th September: Partick Thistle v Celtic – BBC ALBA – 4.10pm

Ten games have been selected with a further two games likely to follow via BBC Sport Scotland during rounds six and seven.
