Bruno Guimaraes has now been at Newcastle United for 40 months.

Despite Newcastle United involved in a grim relegation struggle at the time, the midfielder signing from Lyon in a £41m deal in January 2021.

As usual, Eddie Howe did what he thought was right, took a brave decision. Allowing the new signing to properly adapt to a new country, a new club, a new league, to integrate at NUFC.

Even though United were favourites to be relegated, the NUFC boss took it slowly with Bruno Guimaraes, taking a longer-term view.

Restricted to cameos off the bench at first, it was over six weeks before Bruno Guimaraes made his first Newcastle United start. Scoring an outrageous backheel volley winner at Southampton.

It would then be another month before the midfielder made his first start at St James’ Park.

Another three years on and what a player Newcastle United have.

Just as importantly though, what a brilliant character as well.

The love is mutual between Bruno Guimaraes and the Newcastle United fans.

Now captain of the team and having led United to a first trophy in 56 years, Bruno’s family and friends have secretly made a video, talking about his journey over the years, all the way through to the present day.
