Genoa didn’t produce any shots on target in the first half, but had arguably the best chances before the break with Lior Kasa and Honest Ahanor.

Kasa’s close-range attempt in the opening minutes finished over the crossbar, while Ahanor hit the post at minute 27 after winning the ball from Genoa goalkeeper Nicola Leali, who had been forced to rush outside the box, but saw his emergency long pass blocked by the Genoa forward.

Morten Thorsby had a goal disallowed, but the ex-Sassuolo man was clearly beyond every Como defender when he found the net with a sliding finish.

Como also had some promising chances, especially with a deflected Jonathan Ikoné curler and an Edoardo Goldaniga misplaced header from an excellent position.

The second half was not as lively, but Como took the lead with Strefezza, who finalised a deadly counter-attack conducted by Patrick Cutrone, who delivered his fourth assist in the current Serie A campaign.

Genoa made some attacking substitutions, including their best scorer, Andrea Pinamonti, yet it was not enough to turn the game around. Como pushed for more goals, but didn’t create clear goal-scoring opportunities. However, they always looked in control of the match and ultimately secured their fourth consecutive victory, and most importantly, an early survival.
