All Serie A and Primavera matches scheduled to take place on Easter Monday have been officially postponed for a period of mourning following the death of Pope Francis on Monday morning, the league have confirmed in a statement.

Pope Francis died at the age of 88 on Easter Monday.

As a result, the remaining matches scheduled for the 33rd round of Serie A fixtures have been postponed.

The matches originally scheduled to take place on Easter Monday are: Torino-Udinese, Cagliari-Fiorentina, Genoa-Lazio and Parma-Juventus.

It remains to be seen when those games will be carried out. The matches will have to be played before the final weekend of the 2024-25 Serie A season, which is scheduled to take place on May 25.

Six games have already taken place over the course of the Easter weekend. The weekend’s action began with Como’s 3-0 victory over Lecce and Napoli’s 1-0 win over Monza. Roma also beat Hellas Verona 1-0 on Saturday.

Then, on Easter Sunday, Empoli and Venezia were held level at 2-2, Bologna beat Inter 1-0, while Atalanta secured a 1-0 victory away against Milan.
