Romelu Lukaku and Giacomo Raspadori put Napoli back on track to see off Fiorentina, despite an Albert Gudmundsson strike, to keep the Scudetto race wide open.

The Partenopei needed a victory to keep up the pressure on leaders Inter, but Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa, David Neres and Pasquale Mazzocchi were still out injured, so Billy Gilmour was confirmed in midfield. The Viola lost four of their last five competitive matches, including 3-2 in the Conference League to Panathinaikos, with the second leg coming up next Thursday. Andrea Colpani and Michael Folorunsho were out of action, plus Nicolò Zaniolo and Rolando Mandragora suspended, with Yacine Adli not fully fit.

Raspadori should’ve scored after 10 minutes, scuffing the finish from 10 yards straight at David De Gea from a Giovanni Di Lorenzo roll across.

Romelu Lukaku had penalty appeals waved away as he went down in a tussle with Pietro Comuzzo from six yards.

Napoli did take the lead, as Scott McTominay cut inside and his shot from the edge of the area was only parried by De Gea into the path of Lukaku. It was the Belgian’s 10th Serie A goal of the season, his first since January 25.

Raspadori held off Comuzzo to get the shot away from the by-line, forcing De Gea to parry with an outstretched boot.

Fiorentina also threatened, Moise Kean nodding over from six yards on Fagioli’s assist from a corner routine.

Di Lorenzo came so close to doubling Napoli’s lead on 34 minutes, his scorcher thumping the top of the crossbar.

De Gea kept the scoreline down by again using his feet to deny Leonardo Spinazzola’s angled drive, then palmed a Raspadori effort round the near post.

Fagioli had penalty appeals, but the Gilmour foul was visibly outside the area.

Napoli doubled their advantage with a well-worked passing move, as Raspadori started it from midfield, then ran onto the Lukaku through ball to take a touch and sweep past De Gea relatively undisturbed.

However, Fiorentina got back into it when Kean’s inspired back-heel flick cleared a path for Gudmundsson to burst into the box through the centre and sweep right-footed into the near bottom corner.

There were complaints moments later that Gudmundsson risked a second yellow card for his collision with Raspadori, but both were at full stretch on a loose ball and the referee judged a free kick to be sufficient.

Comuzzo charged down the Politano half-volley on another Lukaku assist, while De Gea palmed a Politano angled drive round the near post and Fagioli curled off target from outside the box.

Giovanni Simeone should’ve scored against his former club in stoppages when running from his own half, only to prod the weak finish straight at De Gea.

Fiorentina poured forward to the bitter end, Cher Ndour shinning the volley over from a corner when even De Gea had gone up.

Lukaku 26 (N), Raspadori 60 (N), Gudmundsson 66 (F)
