Sevilla welcomed Atlético de Madrid to Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán with a chance to put a dagger into their title chances, and they've already had their say.

After just seven minutes, García Pimienta's Nervionenses opened the scoring thanks to former French U21 midfielder Lucien Agoumé.

The precision strike from outside of the box sent the home support into rapture, with Agoumé enjoying his first-ever goal for the club in stunning fashion.

And with that, Sevilla also continued a historic trend at their vaunted ground, with their match opener coming in as their third earliest goal against Atleti in the 21st century.

Only bettered by strikes from former cult hero pair Ivan Rakitić (2021) and Luís Fabiano (2010), Sevilla's penchant to strike early and hard against the capital side in front of home support may have a greater say come the end of 90-minutes.

Though Atleti would go on to equalise through a Julián Alvarez penalty in the 25th minute, there is still plenty to play for in Andalusia.
