Sheffield United got back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon after coasting to a 2-0 win against Stoke City.

The Blades opened the scoring in the first half after Kieffer Moore diverted Alfie Gilchrist’s long range effort into the bottom corner. Tyrese Campbell came back to haunt his former club when he twisted and turned inside the penalty area to fire the Blades to a 2-0 lead in the second half.

Chris Wilder included Vinicius Souza after serving his suspension, he also brought Harrison Burrows back into the side to replace Sam McCallum. Tyrese Campbell took the place of Rhian Brewster from Wednesday night.

It was a very emotional afternoon at Bramall Lane with tributes, as well as a minute’s silence held for the recent tragic passing of Sheffield United legend George Baldock.

First half

After a good start to the game, with Sheffield United firmly on the front foot, the good start turned to great as Kieffer Moore managed to divert a long range effort from Alfie Gilchrist into the bottom far corner.

Vinicius Souza was next to threaten for the home side as he powered a shot from 30 yards out, stinging the palms of Viktor Johansson. After some neat play around the box, the ball bounced up to O’Hare on the 18 yard line and his volleyed goal-bound effort was blocked.

As the clock ticked down to half-time, Anel Ahmedhodzic received his fifth booking of the season which now means he will miss the next game.

Second half

The Blades started very quickly in the second half, and they were able to extend their lead through their former player, Tyrese Campbell, on 50 minutes. After some nifty play from Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, he found Campbell in the box who manoeuvred space to lash a shot past the Stoke goalkeeper.

The visitors should have done better with their chance when Ashley Phillips dragged his right-footed shot wide of the mark from a corner on the hour mark.

Vinicius Souza was exceptionally denied a goal by Viktor Johansson. The Brazilian midfielder curled a shot towards the top right corner from the left side of the penalty area, but the Stoke keeper flew across to tip the shot over the bar.

As the game was coming to an end, it was only the Blades who looked threatening and Johansson was there again to keep the score down as he saved Jamie Shackleton’s strike.

Sheffield United get back to winning ways, and up next for them is a trip to Lancashire to face Blackburn Rovers next Saturday.
